How to Hang a Picture with Rope

HANG A PICTURE WITH ROPE

If you are considering hanging a picture with rope, you should decide why you want to do this. Are you wanting to hang a heavy picture or do you just want a decorative hanging?  So, let’s consider these alternatives.

(1) I want to hang a heavy picture.

The first thing you need to consider is where you want to hang your picture. On a wall, on wood or on studwork (plasterboard)

On a solid wall this is great, and you will be able to get a good fixing. We supply a great hand forged hook for this in this link…

This same hook will work well on wood. All the fixings you need will come with the hook.

(2) Plasterboard.

Fitting to plasterboard or hollow walls is always tricky. If you can locate a joist that is good you can just screw the hook in. If you can’t find a joist, a special fitting would be required. Perhaps look at fittings in a DIY store. So now we are able to fix our hook. The next thing you want to do is choose your rope. We have a great selection of 8mm rope for you to choose from here…
