This vintage handle is a mid-sized black iron rustic vintage handle. It is particularly suitable for cottage doors and kitchen drawers. It is 5 inches in length with black arrowhead ends and a wide handle grip area.
The decorative traditional arrowhead ends measure 3.5cm wide. The vintage old handle itself is 14.5cm long in total and 2cm wide across the grip. The depth from the surface it is mounted on measures 4cm providing plenty of space to easily grasp the handle.
Our rustic wrought iron products are all hand forged. So though similar will not be identical. Each piece is hand finished and given a beeswax coating. All our hand-forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.
Making Our Handles
All of these handles in this range are hand forged. These handles are made in the very old way of hand forging this is done on the anvil. The handles will show forge marks. We have chosen an artisan blacksmith to make these handles for us. The blacksmith is highly skilled in his craft. Not only that but he shares the same belief with us that all the work must be of top quality. Once the handles have been forged they are treated with beeswax.
The beeswax is another very old and traditional method of treating wrought iron. The wax penetrates the small holes in the surface of the iron and by doing this forms a natural layer on the surface of the wrought iron. This will protect the iron from the air thus reducing the chance of excessive rusting. The wax will also even out the colour of the handle. The handle will now be mainly black but it might show areas of golden brown.
Your package will contain all the fittings you will need to install your handles. These fittings, in this case, will be screws. The screws will be old cottage type screws. They will be black with a slotted domed head.
