Bean Handle 4″
This traditional style medium sized old door handle is for internal or external doors or kitchen drawers measures 4 inches in length and is finished with a bean or rounded end.
It is hand made from wrought iron with a wide grip surface.
The decorative vintage bean head ends measure 3cm wide. The black handle itself is 10cm long in total and 1.5cm wide across the grip. The depth from the antique surface it is mounted on measures 2.5cm, particularly suited to small drawers or cupboards where the traditional handle needs to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Our wrought iron products are all hand forged. So though similar will not be identical. Each cottage piece is hand finished on the old door handle and given a rustic beeswax coating. All our hand-forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.
This rustic product has been hand forged. We have found a small blacksmiths shop to make these handles for us. We are very pleased with this arrangement. The blacksmiths are highly trained artisans. They are skilled and have a great passion for the things they produce. The work that you will see from them will show this to you.
When each handle has been forged on the anvil it is treated with beeswax. The wax serves two purposes for the handle. The first function of the wax is to produce a regular colour over its length. The second function of the beeswax is that it soaks into the tiny surface holes on the iron. When the wax has soaked into the tiny holes it is able to form a coating on the surface of the iron. This coat will protect the handle from the air and this will reduce excessive rusting.
When you receive your order you will have all the necessary fittings included for a successful installation. In this case, the fixings will be screws. The screws will be black with a traditional cottage slotted and domed head.
