Vintage Wrought Iron Cabin Hook 6 Inch

This 6 inch vintage style cottage cabin hook and eye set is ideal for latching small doors. Hand made in black wrought iron the old twist detailing on the fixing plates makes this antique style cottage cabin hook an elegant but functional traditional addition to your home.

Each rustic hook is 15 cm long and is 0.7 cm in diameter. The fixing pin is 5.5 cm long, meaning it will fix securely and not easily slip out.

Our cabin hooks are handcrafted so, although similar, will not be identical. Each hook is finished with a beeswax coating in the traditional manner. As with all our products, they are unique to us, and we hope you will enjoy them.

With your delivery, you will receive a full set of screws to enable you to install your cabin hook correctly. The screws are traditional and will be black with a slotted domed head. We recommend that you first make a starting hole for the screws.

The starting hole can be made with a bradawl or a small drill bit. The reason we would like you to do this is twofold. Firstly, the starting holes will allow you to screw the screw in squarely. Secondly, by making a starter hole the screw will fit flush to the mounting plates on the hook base and give you a good firm fixing.

We have been able to find good traditional blacksmiths to make this product for us. The blacksmiths we use are highly skilled artisan forgers. They are passionate about their work and the finished product will show this.

Once our craftsmen have completed our hooks, they are treated with a coating of natural beeswax. The beeswax does two jobs. Firstly, the wax protects the hook from excessive rusting and, secondly, it evens out the hook’s natural colour.
