Rustic L hinges

Pair of our antique style hinges these are rustic black iron L hinges for small door cabinets, furniture etc. If you want a mixed pair i.e. one left and one right please just let us know at the checkout. Height measures 3 inches (7.5cm) and is 9cm wide.
Our wrought iron antique style hinges?are all individually hand forged, and so they are similar but not identical. Each piece is hand finished and given a beeswax coating. All our hand-forged products are carefully aged. Once installed these products will look old and authentic.

Forging

All of our antique style hinges are hand-forged. We have looked long and hard to find an artisan blacksmith to make these products for us. We have now found a small blacksmith shop that we are happy to work with to produce these hinges for us. All our hinges are hand-forged in the traditional way on the anvil.

Beeswax

Once our hinges have been hand forged they are then ready to be dressed. To dress our hinges we give them a coating of natural beeswax. The beeswax helps the hinges in two ways. Firstly the wax filters into the tiny hole on the surface of the iron, this enables the wax to form a seal coat on the surface of the iron and will thus prevent excessive rusting. The wax will also give the ironwork a more consistent colour along its length.

Installation

As these hinges are surface mounted they are relatively easy to fit. All the fixings that you will require to fit these hinge will be included with your package. In this case the fittings will be screws. The screws will be black with a slotted domed head.
