Our locking old door handles rustic Fleur de Lys gothic door handles are cast in malleable iron. They have a tough black epoxy finish suitable for exterior use. These handles include a key hole feature in the base plate if a locking door is required. we also have them available without a keyhole if required.
The base plate features a traditional fleur de lys end top and bottom. The antique lever handle has a decorative twist cast into it. As these are heavy old cottage door handles each lever is sprung so as to always return to it’s correct position. The base plate measures 22cm by 5cm and the handle itself is 11cm long and 2cm across.
Fixing screws and bar are provided. These old door handles may be mounted either indoors or outdoors.
These handles are cast for us in a small foundry. We chose this foundry because it was small and that each of our handles could be cast individually. Once the handles are cast they are hand polished and cleaned. Once cleaned the handles are painted with a tough black epoxy paint. The painting of the handles makes them suitable for both interior and exterior use.
When you receive your package you will find enclosed all the bits you will need to fit the handles. The parts will be screws and a connecting rod. The connecting rod will need to be cut to fit the width of your door. A small hacksaw will do this job. You will be given the correct amount of fixing screws. These screws will be traditional black slotted.
When fixing the screws we would recommend that you first either drill a pilot hole or use a bradawl to make a starting hole. The starting hole will make sure that you are able to screw the screws in squarely to the base plate on the handles.
