Our antique wrought iron products are all traditional and hand forged. So though similar will not be identical. Each cottage piece is hand finished and given a bees wax coating. All our hand forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.
All our handles are hand forged in the traditional way. These handles are forged on the anvil and will show forging marks. The handles are made by highly skilled artisan blacksmiths. These black smiths are passionate about their work and you will be able to see this in the quality of the product.
When the handles have been completed they are dipped in natural beeswax. The beeswax serves two purposes. The first job the beeswax does is to protect the handle from rusting. This is a very old and traditional method of looking after wrought iron. The second function of the wax is to give the product a more even colour. The colouring of this handle will be from black to golden brown.
When you receive the handle it will arrive with fixing screws. These screws are traditional and will be black with a slotted domed head.
When fixing these screws we would recommend that you would firstly drill either a pilot hole or make a hole with a bradawl. The reason for this is that you will be able to screw the screws in at 90 degrees to the handle and they will fit nice and squarely on to the base plates.
