Our old coat hook rustic swan coat hooks are hand cast in heavy duty wrought iron with a matt black oil finish. Fixing screws are provided. The black curved swan neck that makes the upper arm of this old hook protrudes 9 cm from the base plate and is a slender 0.6 cm in diameter. The overall height from the top of the swan’s antique curved neck to the bottom of the lower hook is 14 cm making this quite a striking traditional feature hook. The lower arm of the cottage hook has 3 cm clearance from the upper arm and 4 cm clearance from the base plate meaning umbrellas or scarves can easily be hung from either the top or bottom arm.
Our cast iron coat rustic hooks are all hand forged. So though similar will not be identical. Each piece is hand finished and given a traditional bees wax coating. All our hand forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.
We have found a small foundry to make these hooks for us. We chose this foundry because of their passion for cast iron and their skill in producing it. Each piece is hand cast and hand finished. Once the old coat hook is complete it is hand cleaned and polished. The hook is now dipped in hot black oil this is a very old way of treating cast iron. The hot oil serves two functions. the first function is to protect the cast iron from excessive rusting. The second purpose is to produce a more even colour along the entire length of the hook.
When you receive your delivery you will find all the parts included to correctly install your hook. The fixing screws that are included will be of traditional design they will be black with a slotted top and a dome head finish
