Black hinges

A pair of our medium sized vintage style black hinges Tee hinges, or T Hinges, with Gothic fleur de lys head finishes. Pre-drilled hinge plates and matching fixing screws are provided. These mid-sized antique hinges are 8 inches in length.

The rectangular hinge leaf measures 13 cm by 3.2 cm and the decorative old hinge leaf is 17 cm long. The head of the antique fleur de lys measures 9 cm wide.

Our cottage wrought iron products are all hand forged, so though similar will not be identical. Each rustic piece is hand finished and given a beeswax coating. All our hand forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.

Forging

We are very lucky to find the blacksmiths who make these hinges for us and skilled enough in wrought iron work to be able to make them. The old type hinges are hand forged on the anvil in the time-honoured way. The hinges will show forging marks. Once finished the hinges are hand cleaned and polished and treated with beeswax. The beeswax penetrates the surface of the wrought iron and seals the surface to prevent excessive rusting.

Fixing

When you receive your hinges, you will also receive all the fixings you need to install them. In this case, the fixing will be screws. The screws will be of a cottage design they will be slotted black screws with a domed head.
