Cottage T Hinge

Our cottage T hinge This is a pair of our larger vintage style Tee hinges, or T Hinges, with arrowhead finishes.  Pre-drilled hinge plates and matching vintage fixing screws are provided.  These long antique hinges are 18 inches in length so are particularly suited to old large doors.

The rectangular black hinge leaf measures 13cm by 3 cm and the traditional decorative hinge leaf is 41cm long.  The head of the arrow measures 3.3cm wide.

Our wrought iron products are all hand forged, so though similar will not be identical.  Each cottage piece is hand finished and given a beeswax coating. All our hand-forged products are carefully aged for a rustic authentic look.

Making The Hinges

These hinges have been made by traditional blacksmiths who produce excellent products.  These hinges have been made in the ancient and traditional way on the anvil. The finished hinges will show forging marks.

Once completed, the hinges are dressed in beeswax, which again is the old method of treating wrought iron.  The beeswax will penetrate into the holes on the surface of the iron.  This will allow the wax to form a protective coat over the surface, thus protecting the iron from excessive rust.  The beeswax will also give the wrought iron a uniform colour.

Delivery/Installation

When your parcel arrives, it will contain the correct amount of fixings to enable you to instal the hinges.  In this case, the fixings will be screws. The screws will be of an old cottage type in black with a slotted, domed head.
