Wrought iron hook black rustic vintage antique
Wrought iron hook. This is our 2″ version of our 90 degree hook. We have other sizes of this hook available on this site.
Each of these 2″ hooks are made in the traditional way on the anvil. Once the hooks are complete, they are treated with a beeswax coating, which is a traditional finish to wrought iron. The beeswax will seal the ironwork and prevent the item from rusting, although over time in damper areas, patches of rust will appear. This of course will give the hook its aged authentic look.
The hooks may be used indoors or outdoors, but if used outdoors, or even in a shed, these hooks will show signs of rusting a lot more quickly. This will not affect the use of the hooks. A wipe with a small amount of olive oil on a cloth should bring them back. You may wish to paint your hook, so in this case please rub them down with some wire wool before painting with an exterior rust proof paint.
This is a 2 inch hook with a standard screw thread fixing set at 90° to the hook to particularly suit fixing to vertical surfaces. Ideal for hanging kitchen utensils, cups or tea towels, the handcrafted wrought iron hook is finished with traditional beeswax and has a fine curl detail at the end of the hook.
The thread is 3.5 cm in length and the exposed section of the hook measures 5.5 cm by 5.5 cm. The inner aperture of the hook is 2.5 cm across and the hook itself is 0.7 cm in diameter.
If you are fitting this hook to a beam, it is advisable to drill a 3 mm hole in the beam first. Please leave enough room so that you have space to screw the hook in.
