Rustic Wrought Iron Screw Hook for Cups, Mugs and Tea Towels
Our Screw hook shown here is the 3″ version. This hook is also available in 2″.
The hook is made in the traditional way on the anvil. Once finished, the hook is coated in beeswax to give an authentic finish. As these hooks are all hand-made, they will be similar but not identical.
This hook has a standard screw thread fixing set at 90% and is particularly suited for fixing to vertical surfaces. Ideal for hanging kitchen utensils, cups or tea towels, or for fixing to beams around the home. This handcrafted wrought iron beeswax hook has a fine curl detail at the end of the hook.
Size
The thread is 3.5 cm in length and the exposed section of the hook measures 6 cm by 8 cm. The inner aperture of the hook is 3.5 cm across and the hook itself is 0.8 cm in diameter.
Fixing
These hooks are often screwed into old beams. As old beams can be very hard, especially oak, it would be advisable to drill a pilot hole first. The pilot hole should be 3 mm.
As the thread on this hook is at 90 degrees to the hook, please ensure that you have left enough room from your pilot hole to be able to tighten up the hook.
Often these hooks are used outside or in the shed. If you are using these hooks outdoors, they will, after a period of time, produce a rust covering. This is perfectly normal and will not affect the operation of the hook. You might prefer to paint the hook in this situation. If so, we would recommend that you first rub the hook down with some wire wool and then paint it with a rust resistant metal paint.
