Rustic black handle
This small Rustic black handle is made of wrought iron. The vintage pull handle has been handcrafted with a unique black central twist. The old Arrowhead ends compliment the antique black finish making this beautiful traditional handle perfect for cottage kitchen doors, cabinets and drawers, as well as doors and cupboards.
This handle measures 10.5cm long with a diameter of 0.7cm. The dainty arrow-shaped heads are 2.cm wide.
Our wrought iron black handle is all hand forged. So though similar will not be identical. Each piece is hand finished and given a beeswax coating. All our hand-forged products are carefully aged for an authentic look.
This is another of our unique products. We designed this handle as just something different. The knot in the handle is a welcome surprise and shows off the skill of the blacksmith who forges them. We have taken a lot of time developing this handle and then a lot more time in finding somebody capable of forging them for us. Fortunately, we found a small blacksmith shop that was able to make these handles for us. We are happy to of finding these smiths not only because they are highly skilled artisans but they also have the skill to produce this unique product for us.
Beeswax and Finish
Once the rustic black handle has been hand forged they are hand cleaned and polished, now the handles need to be dressed. To dress the handles we treat them to a layer of beeswax. The beeswax helps the wrought iron in several ways. Firstly the wax will seep into the tiny holes on the surface of the iron and form a thin skin over it. This skin divides the air from the iron and thus prevents excessive rusting. The wax will also even out the colour of the iron. This is an old fashioned design and the colouring will be from black to burnt orange.
